Moving Pictures (Ryden)
oil on canvas, 120×120 cm.
A mash-up of the Rush album cover for Moving Pictures (original cover design by Hugh Syme) displacing the paintings originally pictured with the Mark Ryden works Incarnation, Virgin and Child, & Cone of Memory.
This piece, along with Aja Kusama, marks a departure from the other works in the High Fidelity series, and sets the stage for the large, fully painted works featured in the series that became Dancing with Architecture. Though not abstract, the move away from strictly musical reference established a bridge between the two bodies of work.
